| Hey all, I recently received a better laptop a day ago. I did manage to get decent fps in call of duty, but there are random fps lag spikes while playing. I'm not sure why it's doing this, so any help would be appreciated.
(This is in both Single and Multiplayer)

| Are you getting these lag spikes when something explodes or when there is lots of smoke around? | |

| Hmm, do you play with your web browser opened (I doubt that's the problem but that used to be the case for me)? | |

| Actually, yeah I sometimes do. I'll try playing with it closed next time I play.
Edit: It didn't lag when I was playing in harbor, but I just went to hurtgen and got those lag spikes again..

| Alright, I just installed CoD2 and to my surprise, it ran very smoothly. I'm enjoying it very much but I also found the same lag problem while playing both Single and Multiplayer. Again, any help would be much appreciated. | |

Not really "new" but it's from a friend who barely used it at all. He sold it to me for only $75, so why not. Windows 7 Home Premium Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4400 @2.20GHz 2.19 GHz 3GB Ram 64 Bit Operating System Graphics Card: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family

| It's most likely that graphics card. :/
Also, how are you running 64-bit on 3GB of RAM. Don't you need 4GB minimum for 64-bit?

| Figured it was that. I have an ATI Radeon not being used, so hopefully it can fit into my laptop. I don't think I need 4gbs of RAM for 64 bit.. | |

Nope, 32 bit will only support up to 4GB of RAM, but 64 bit can run with less than 4GB.

Windows 7 Home Premium Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4400 @2.20GHz 2.19 GHz 3GB Ram 64 Bit Operating System Graphics Card: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family WoW. That's ancient tech going on there. - Romanian wrote:

Also, how are you running 64-bit on 3GB of RAM. Don't you need 4GB minimum for 64-bit? Yes the onboard graphics chip is in fact the source of all lag, especially those of the Mobile Intel Series. - Jackson wrote:

I don't think I need 4gbs of RAM for 64 bit.. You can't put a desktop graphics card into a laptop. This is why I hate laptop gaming, if you buy a new one, make sure it has either a Nvidia or ATI (as much as they suck) card built in, even the onboard versions work better than anything from the Intel Mobile Series. - creak wrote:

This is correct unless you are using Windows XP. While with XP you can get 4GB of RAM on a 32bit system, you have to also factor in the amount of RAM your graphics card adds. My graphics card adds 768MB of RAM so I am only able to go up to 3GB of system RAM (though I'm not complaining).

| Alright, thanks anyway Rune. I did find other ways to connect a desktop graphics card to a laptop, but it requires a set of different items I would need to purchase.. | |
